City Services operating to coincide with Thanksgiving Holiday week

**City offices closed Thursday and Friday

**Landfill closed, garbage collection plan adjusted

**Rapid Transit operations suspended Thursday and Friday

**Planning/Zone Committee meeting on Wednesday

FAST CITY—City offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. City Hall is closed on Thursday and Friday.

The Planning and Development Commission will reschedule its meeting to Wednesday 23 November at 7am in the Council Chambers of City Hall.

Bank holiday week events include the 14th Annual Wilson Park Tree Lighting Event at Wilson Park on Mount Rushmore Road next Tuesday from 5:15pm to 6:00pm. Mayor Steve Allender will light the Christmas tree at the event. Holiday week activities continue on Saturday, November 26 with ice skating in Main Street Square from 10am, followed by the holiday celebrations and winter market in Main Street Square from 2pm to 6pm, coinciding with the Lighting of the Christmas tree in the plaza by Mayor Allender culminating at 5:30 pm The annual Festival of Lights parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. in downtown Rapid City. Mayor Allender proclaims Saturday, November 26th Rapid City’s Small Business Saturday.

In addition to City Hall, the adjustment of services and operations for other city facilities and services during Thanksgiving week includes:

*Solid waste: During the holiday week, the city’s garbage collection schedule changes. The Rapid City landfill will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day. Normal garbage collection takes place on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pickups are one day earlier (Tuesday pickup should be Monday to pickup, Wednesday pickup should be Tuesday to pickup, and Thursday pickup should be Wednesday to pickup).

*Express traffic: Services will be suspended on Thursday and Friday.

*Rapid City Public Library: The Rapid City Public Library closes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving. The library will resume normal opening hours on Friday.

*The monument: The facility will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day, and the ticket booths and administrative offices will open at 10:00 am on Friday to support scheduled facility events.

*Roosevelt Swim Center: Rapid City Swim Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day and will be open Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. with open swimming scheduled from 12:00 p.m. both days. The facility is open on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend from 1:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., with open swimming scheduled for the entire period.

*Roosevelt Ice Arena: The facility will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. During the holiday weekends, there will be public skating on Friday (November 25) from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 1.30pm-9pm on Saturday (November 26) and 2.45pm-5pm on Sunday (November 27).

*Rapid City Regional Airport: The airport is open on Thanksgiving, the administration offices are closed on Thursdays and Fridays. The public is encouraged to check with individual airlines for travel updates.

*Rapid City Police and Fire Department: RCPD and RCFD will work regular shifts on Thanksgiving Day. The administrative offices of both departments are closed on Thursdays and Fridays.
