Duquesne, who advanced to 3-1 with an 85-80 win on the neutral side over Colgate in Akron, Ohio on Friday, returns home to complete a stretch of nine straight home games with a matchup on Monday, May 21. November, vs. North Florida (1-2) at 7:00 p.m. at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse (ESPN+).

The Dukes, who are averaging 81.0 points per game, are scoring 93.5 ppg. Clip at home (91-63 over Montana & 96-71 over South Carolina State).

First year transfer to Miami, Ohio Dae Dae Grant led four Dukes by double figures by 24 points in victory over Colgate. Forward Tre Williams went 7-of-7 from the field and added 15 points for DU.

This is Duquesne’s third and final game in the Tribute Classic presented by Kentucky Tourism (Kentucky & vs. SC State were the others). North Florida earns a 72-66 home win over SC State in the first of its three Classic games on Saturday afternoon.

This is Duquesne’s first meeting with the Ospreys, who are trailing 2-0. DU is 18-5 in non-conference home games – including wins at four different “home” venues – since 2018-19.

  • This is the first of nine straight home games for the Dukes, who will not leave UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse until their Atlantic 10 opener on December 28 in Dayton.
  • DU will have a quick turnaround with another game Wednesday night against Alabama State before Thanksgiving.

  • Guard Jimmy Clark III, who played at VCU as a freshman and sophomore, has eclipsed his career as a DI, scoring twice high in four games with 11 at Kentucky and 13 against South Carolina State. His career high earlier in the season was nine.
  • Austin Rotroff came off the bench to lead the Dukes in rebounds in three of four games. The 6-10 forward had a career-high 11 boards off the bench in 12 minutes against SC State and scored all of his season-best 10 points in the second half against Colgate.

NORTH FLORIDA FAST NOTES

  • Duquesne and Jacksonville-based Atlantic Sun Conference member North Florida are playing for the first time.
  • The Ospreys are in their 14th season under head coach Matthew Driscoll. Driscoll, a Pittsburgh native who attended Northgate High School, graduated from Slippery Rock and was also a head coach at La Roche University from 1993-1997. A three-time ASUN Coach of the Year, Driscoll is the most successful coach in UNF history.
  • UNF, which finished 11-20 (7-9 in ASUN) last season, was ranked fifth in ASUN Coaches’ Preseason Poll. Forward Carter Hendricksen and guard Jose Placer, UNF’s top two scorers a year ago, have been named to the 10-man preseason all-conference team.
  • Overall, UNF are giving back 81 percent of their goals and 74 percent of minutes played from last year. The Ospreys have nine returnees and four newcomers.
  • UNF has led the nation twice and the conference six times in 3-pointers made under Driscoll. The Ospreys have made a 3-pointer in 782 straight games.
  • North Florida is first time opponent for DU head coach Keith Dambrot.

  • Duquesne, 77-61 with 5:15 left, held on to defeat Colgate, 85-80, in Akron, Ohio.
  • The Dukes, who saw their lead cut to two with 30 minutes left, got two stoppages and hit 3 of 4 free throws on the stretch to seal the win.
  • Dae Dae Grant (5/7/3 points) scored 17 of his 24-game strength in the first half for DU.
  • Tre Williams (15 points on 7-of-7 shooting), Tevin Brewer (14 points and six assists) and Austin Rotroff (10 points, all in the second half) also scored in double figures for the Dukes, who shot .508.
  • DU went 11-of-24 from 3-point, Colgate was 10-of-25.
  • The Dukes finished with 11 steals.
  • Duquesne was without striker Kevin Easley (suspended for violating team rules) and RJ Gunn, who was out of uniform with an injury (foot).
  • Duquesne’s biggest lead was 16 at 77-61 with 5:15 left… Colgate’s biggest lead was one, at 3-2… there have been three draws and two lead changes before Austin Rotroff finally gave the Dukes the lead in the dunk that broke a short 55-55 tie 11:11… Colgate led for 16:16…Duquesne led for 37:44.
